SAN DIEGO, CA (SolidWorks World 2014) - 3DPartFinder, a geometric search engine that let's SolidWorks users search existing files based on similar parts and geometries, has been nominated for Best of Show in SolidWorks World.
"How awesome is it to find parts based on geometry?" asks Edson Gebo, one of 12 TenLinks judges at teh show. "Innovative and genius!"
"Finding files based on shape and geometry, regardless of scale, even within complex assemblies is a great story," says Alin Vargatu, another judge. "3DPartFinder has no competition at the moment."
3DPartFinder works with SolidWorks but also supports other CAD systems. Future application will be web based and in the cloud. The indexing speed based on the computer, but it can index 6000 parts per hour on a standard laptop."
"3DPartFinder is based either by using an existing part or a rough sketch of something similar and the search engine will find similar parts and geometries," adds Lars Christensen, judge. "Most other searches is based on users being disciplined in recording meta data search such as EPDM data cards. 3DPartFinder uses the shape of the part that is much more recognizable by the designer and engineer. Companies can have hundreds of thousands of files and part number system with no intelligence. Shape search will be quicker and help re-use of old data."
$2495 starting price for server, $895 for client.
